PURPOSE:  To provide scholarship funds to students wishing to continue their education at a school of higher learning in any course of study.

WHO QUALIFIES: Scholarships will be given to 2009 graduating high school seniors upon enrolling in an institution of higher learning, including immediate family members of the HBA (builder and associate members).

Requirements:  A completed application, a letter of recommendation from a school official:  counselor, teacher or principal, a letter of recommendation from a business person in the Siouxland area, a photo copy of the student's transcript, and a billfold size photograph.

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: The scholarship award can be up to $1000 per applicant.  Funds are paid directly to the educational institution in the name of the student and school.

HOW TO APPLY:  Applicants must submit an application to the HBA Women’s Council Scholarship Committee.  This is a one-time scholarship.  Applications will be accepted until April 17, 2009, from any student planning to study either in a college or technical school.  Interviews will be scheduled in the month of April.  Each final applicant will be required to take part in a 10-20 minute interview conducted by the Women’s Council Scholarship Committee of the Home Builders Association.

If an applicant is selected as a finalist, a representative of the committee will contact the applicant directly to schedule the interview.  Multiple applicants are chosen each year to receive scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS COMMITTEE: Shall consist of HBA of Greater Siouxland Women’s Council.  The decisions of the scholarship awards committee shall be final.  We are not necessarily interested in straight “A” students.  A well-rounded, ambitious individual with average grades will receive every consideration.  Only those students planning on future schooling or education and training with reference to the construction industry are eligible for these awards.
