Women’s Council - The Women’s Council provides support to our local Home Builders Association. They are very involved in the various activities and functions that are held throughout the year.
Festival of Trees - which raises money for local charities, the council will purchase a tree and
Silent Auction – This is held at the annual Home Builder’s Banquet: Every year in November the Home Builders Association has an annual awards banquet recognizing outstanding members throughout the year. The Women council members donate items to this auction, plus contact HBA members for donated items. Everyone in attendance may bid on the donated items – highest bidder for each is announced at the end of the evening. All proceeds go toward scholarship funds for the area high school seniors. This past year nine scholarships were given to students from various schools. The more money that is raised, the more scholarships will be given. Members of the Project Home Committee – The women’s council member that serves on the project home committee helps in the decision making process of all areas of construction of the home. They also make the choice of colors for siding, shingles, carpeting, flooring and cabinets & countertops. When the home is complete, an open house is held with Women Council members showing the community the excellent work that has been done by
Home Show – In February of every year, the HBA has a home show at the Sioux City Convention center. Home Builder members display their products for the consumer to view. The Women’s Council hosts a hospitality room for all exhibitors. This is a place for them to relax, have refreshments & cookies. We create a very relaxing and calm atmosphere for the exhibitors, so when they go back onto the display floor, they feel refreshed.
Fun Events – We have a May couple’s event that wthe W.I.T. instructor and students and a builder representative from the HBA. We try to do something different every year.
